We’re predicting a bumper season for sweet bakery ingredients with sales already soaring in the run up to the 2024 festive period.

Our sales team has seen a significant rise in demand for warming sweet spices such as ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, anise over the last month. Plus, there is increased demand for tropical and exotic dried fruits such as dates, figs, cranberries and apricots especially for European style items such as pannetones, stollens, and modern baked goods such as orange and cranberry cakes, mince pie variants and seasonal biscuits and cookies.

Sales and orders are also booming for dried banana, cherries, berries, mango, peach, pear and apple and goji berries for contemporary baked goods with health benefits, nutritional value, vibrant colours and unusual flavour combinations.

Tasneem Alonzo, our joint managing director, says: “It feels like Christmas is back with a bang, following a few uncertain and challenging years. We have seen a real uptick in orders of sweet spices and spice blends, with many of our bakery customers placing much larger orders than ever before. Demand is going to be high this year so we’d advise bakers to stock up now to keep their supplies topped up.

“Bakers and food manufacturers are formulating exciting new sweet baked goods for the Christmas season, such as contemporary tear and share spiced breads, Christmas cakes and muffins, sweet loaves, pastries, brownies and biscuits. The products being developed for Christmas are more and more exciting and unusual every year, so important for bakers to stay one step ahead and use interesting, quality, authentic products that consumers will love and enjoy over the festive period.

“Our relationships with our suppliers mean we can ensure adequate supply from now, right through to the end of year to avoid any shortages or disruptions to supply.

“Using our international sourcing capabilities and distribution network, we are delighted to supply the industry with the finest, quality spices in time for the Christmas period. Creating tasty and authentic foods is important to meet consumer demand and with our seasonal spices and blends, our bakery customers can rest assured they are using only the highest quality ingredients in their end products.

“We can also offer non-allergen, vegan, conventional and organic blends on request, can match or enhance existing blends and can collaborate with bakers and manufacturers on bespoke formulations for new products.”

“We can supply ingredients under short lead times if required, can collaborate with brands and food manufacturers developing new products and can also offer advice on new and existing formulations.”
